Meet The Characters

Michael

Michael is the heartbroken dreamer behind the original promise.

He is emotional, loyal, stubborn in all the ways that matter, and the kind of man who remembers things most people would have let go of years ago. When Michael loves, he loves deeply. Sometimes too deeply. His heart has always carried more than he knows how to say, and that is exactly what makes his story so powerful.

Before Alecia’s Kitchen ever became Alecia’s Kitchen, Michael had a dream connected to Jessica — a future built around love, food, family, and the promise of building something meaningful together. But life did not follow the plan. Jessica became part of his past, and the promise became one of those unfinished things he carried with him.

Michael is not perfect. He overthinks, he holds onto memories, and he sometimes lets his heart write checks his common sense cannot cash. But underneath all of that is a man trying to do right by the people he loves. His faith, his loyalty, and his desire to build something lasting keep him moving forward, even when the past keeps pulling him back.

In Unbroken Promises, Michael represents the pain of what was lost — but also the courage it takes to love again.

And when Alecia enters the story, Michael’s old promise does not disappear.

It changes.

It becomes something new.

It becomes Alecia’s Kitchen.

Alecia

Alecia Underwood is the woman who walked into Michael’s story and decided it needed a little truth, a little fire, and a whole lot more sarcasm.

Alecia is fictional, but her voice is the one that takes over this version of the story. After Michael wrote Unbroken Promises, Alecia became more than just a character. She became the storyteller, the sharp-eyed observer, and the woman bold enough to turn an old promise into something of her own.

She is warm, loyal, funny, faith-driven, and not afraid to say what everyone else is thinking. Alecia has a heart for people, but she also has boundaries — and if someone brings drama into her kitchen, they had better be ready for the look.

At the center of Alecia’s journey is Alecia’s Kitchen, a place built from the remains of a promise Michael once imagined for Jessica. But Alecia does not see it as second place. She sees it as transformation. What was once connected to heartbreak becomes a place of healing, family, food, and new beginnings.

Alecia brings balance to Michael’s emotional world. She understands his past, but she does not let him live there forever. She sees the hurt, the history, and the unfinished pieces — then somehow turns them into something stronger.

In the story, Alecia is not just the woman beside Michael.

She is the voice of the rewrite.

She is the keeper of the kitchen.

She is the reminder that sometimes the best chapter is the one nobody planned.

And yes, she is probably going to be sarcastic about it.

Jessica

Jessica is the promise that started it all.

She is the woman tied to Michael’s past, the memory that shaped the original dream, and the reason the story carries so much emotional weight. Her connection to Michael began with love, possibility, and a future that once felt real. But when that relationship ended, it left behind more than heartbreak. It left behind a promise Michael never completely forgot.

Jessica is complicated in the way real people are complicated. She is not simply a villain, and she is not simply a lost love. She is part of the emotional foundation of the story — the person who represents what Michael wanted, what he lost, and what he had to learn to release.

Her presence matters because she is connected to the original version of the dream. Before Alecia’s Kitchen had its name, before the story was rewritten, Jessica was the person Michael imagined sharing that promise with. That history does not vanish just because life moves forward.

In Unbroken Promises, Jessica represents the past returning with questions.

What happens when an old love walks back into the story?
What happens when a promise meant for one person becomes the foundation for a life with someone else?
And what happens when everyone involved has to face the truth?

Jessica’s role brings tension, emotion, and honesty to the story. She reminds readers that love can leave marks, choices have consequences, and not every goodbye stays buried forever.

She is the past.

Alecia is the rewrite.

And Michael is the man caught between what he once promised and what his life has become.
